Potential new Residential Parking Zone

Recommendations for the next proposed Residential Parking Zone will be heard next week.

Portsmouth City Council has reviewed the responses to the consultation on the ME Haslemere Road area parking Zone that is bounded by Goldsmith Avenue, Highland Road, Chestnut Avenue and Winter Road. The findings showed that 197 residents in the area support a permit parking zone, of the 376 responses received from those living in the area. Therefore it is recommended that the ME parking zone is implemented, operating from 4.30pm to 6.30pm as 'permit holders only'.

The feedback from the formal consultation has led to some proposed changes also being put forward, these include:

Changes on Haslemere Road outside the carpet store to create space for loading vehicles. Properties on Winter Road will be able to apply for ME permits but there will be no restricted parking bays in the road. If as part of the programme of rolling consultation further zones to the east of Winter Road are wanted then a flexible use of parking on both sides can be introduced for those people living close to the boundary.

Councillor Lynne Stagg Cabinet Member for Traffic and Transportation said "The areas are added to the plan where people request them and ME is the next zone that is sequentially on the programme for consideration next week."

The papers that detail the recommendations will be discussed at the Traffic and Transportation meeting on October 2019.
