New opportunity for businesses in Fareham to apply for grant

Businesses that have not yet been successful in receiving financial support have a second opportunity to apply for a grant worth up to £5,000.

The Local Authority Discretionary Grants Fund has reopened today (Tuesday 28 July).

The first round of funding, which ran from 2 June to 16 June, saw over £820,000 approved in discretionary grants to small local businesses.

Grants will only be considered for businesses that are small or micro-sized, with ongoing property-related costs, based in Fareham and not eligible for other Government business support schemes, apart from the Self Employment Income Support and Job Retention Schemes.

Full details of the eligibility criteria can be found on the Council’s website.

Fareham Borough Council’s Executive Leader, Councillor Seán Woodward, said: “More than 200 businesses applied for grants in the first round and each application was assessed in a fair and consistent way to make sure as many businesses as possible could benefit.

“I encourage businesses to apply quickly so that they don’t miss out, as the scheme has a limited amount of funding left available and applications will be assessed on a first come first served basis.”

Business owners can complete the form on the Council’s website: LIVE Fareham Discretionary Business Grant Application.

In addition to the above scheme, many eligible businesses in the Borough have not yet applied for the Small Business Grant of £10,000 or the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants of £10,000 or £25,000.  The Government have decided that all three grant schemes will close on 28th August 2020.
