Ian James to take on 54-hour broadcast for three local charities

The Ian James 54-Hour Radiothon

Express Breakfast presenter Ian James will undertake an extraordinary 54-hour live broadcasting marathon to raise money for three vital Portsmouth-based causes: Spark Community Space, Portsmouth Hospitals Charity and Enable Ability.

Ian will begin his "Radiothon" at 6:00am on Wednesday 19th November and continue live on-air until 12:00pm on Friday 21st, remaining awake and behind the microphone for the full duration.

Throughout the challenge, Ian will co-host regular programmes across the three days with each presenter as well as special guest interviews, interactive games, charity features and chances to win to keep listeners engaged while driving donations to the three organisations.

Prizes up for grabs include dinner, bed and breakfast at The Queens Hotel.

Express FM Content Manager Harrison RB said: “This is a huge undertaking and fair play to Ian for stepping up to support three brilliant causes that make a real difference here in Portsmouth. We’re looking forward to bringing the whole station together for a powerful community-driven broadcast.”

The three charities being supported each play a significant part in the local community:
    •    Spark Community Space - helping people who don't feel like they fit in to access the support and services they need
    •    Portsmouth Hospitals Charity - enhancing care and facilities for patients and staff across Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust
    •    Enable Ability - providing a range of services for disabled people and their families across the Portsmouth area

You can tune in throughout the marathon on 93.7 FM, DAB+ Digital Radio, online or on Alexa.

Donations are greatly appreciated and can be made at expressfm.com/donate.
